Send Removal Orders to LDR – Importing Removal Order Detail Report Takes No Time

Amazon FBA Removal Orders can be a nightmare to handle on your own! That’s why we offer a range of return management solutions. This article covers how you can import dozens or even hundreds of removal orders into our portal in less than five minutes by leveraging Removal Order Detail reports.

Removal Order Detail reports are available inside Seller Central, and they list everything Amazon is expecting to send. The reports include the order id, product info, expected quantity, and Amazon’s opinion about the inventory condition. Importing the info to our portal enables fast, accurate processing of your removals for maximum value recovery and turnaround time.

If you send a lot of Amazon FBA removal orders to LDR you should consider using the Removal Order Detail Report in Seller Central to do it. This will enable importing dozens or hundreds of removals at once, and it only takes a couple minutes.

You should do this process at least once per month, depending on your volume. If you’ve setup shared Seller Central access, LDR can do this for you periodically on an as-needed basis as part of our return management solutions.

Why should I manage my Amazon FBA Removal Orders?

Great question! Many sellers view removal orders as a waste of time or money, or see them only as a means to recover inventory. In our experience, proper handling of Amazon returns can often result in recovering over 67% of the inventory value. That’s not the only reason, though. Our returns management solutions are focused on improving overall brand perception and customer satisfaction. We do that by carefully analyzing sellers’ returned products to spot value-add opportunities. Even if you’re not using our services, you should consider doing that yourself.

Carefully inspecting your removals can reveal key insights into what drives product returns. In 2024, one client faced 51% of returns for “sizing reasons.” Using their removal inventory, we compared 10+ units per SKU and found it was actually a factory tolerance issue; sizing varied by up to 5 inches on identical garments.

However, managing removal orders yourself isn’t for the faint of heart. At times, it can feel like Amazon goes out of its way to make the process as frustrating as possible. Removals are often split into dozens of small packages containing just one to three items each, and even arrive via four or more separate delivery drivers.

Steps to Import Removal Order Details

The next few sections will provide details. They will explain how to import the information to LDR’s portal. This is relevant if you’re using our removal services.

Here’s a quick overview of the steps involved:

  2. Generate and download the report as a .txt file, after selecting a time range.
  3. Upload the file to LDR’s portal to import all your removal orders.

You’ll need to log into Amazon Seller Central and navigate to the Reports section. You can also click this link to go directly to it.

On the left side of the page, near the bottom, you’ll see a link that says “Removal Order Details”. Click that link to reach the page where you can schedule the report.

2. Generate the .txt Removal Order Detail Report

Select the time-frame since you last performed this process. It’s okay if you generate a report that includes orders you’ve already sent us. It won’t hurt anything. Orders we already know about will be skipped automatically.

After you select a time frame, like Last 30 Days, click the “Request .txt Download” button. After a few moments, Amazon will generate a file you can download and send to our portal.

Select a range like “Last 30 Days”, click “Request .txt Download” and wait a couple moments for the Removal Order Detail report to generate. It usually takes less than a minute, but it may take longer if you have a lot of Amazon FBA removal orders or selected a wide time range.

3. Upload the file to LDR’s web portal

(Optional) Step 5 – Removal Shipment Detail Report

Seller Central also provides a “Removal Shipment Detail Report”, which can be found here (https://sellercentral.amazon.com/reportcentral/REMOVAL_SHIPMENT_DETAIL/1). This report will list all of the shipments Amazon has already prepared, along with their tracking numbers and expected contents. This report can be useful if you’re handling removals on your own, as it helps figure out what’s been delivered vs. what’s still in the mail.

Our portal also supports this report. If you provide it before your orders are delivered, it enables us to match them to expected orders. You’ll see a page where you can optionally upload this report right after you’ve imported the Removal Order Details.

How To Open Removal Order Detail and Shipment Detail Reports On Your Own Computer

You may notice that Amazon provides the option to download these as .csv or .txt files, and if you’re familiar with Excel or similar programs, you may be tempted to use the .csv version. However, you’ll likely find out that many of the columns become garbled when you do that. There’s a simple solution: LibreOffice.

LibreOffice is a free and open-source office suite you can download from https://www.libreoffice.org/. We’ve found that the spreadsheet program included with it works very well for opening the .txt files Amazon provides. Simply follow these steps:

  1. Rename the downloaded .txt file so it ends with .tsv (for tab-separated values).
  2. Right click, and select “Open With…” or the equivalent option for your operating system.
  3. Choose LibreOffice Calc.
  4. You’ll be presented with a short dialog like the one pictured, which asks how you want to interpret the file.
  5. Make sure to select the following options, as shown in the picture below:
    • Separator Options: Select Tab
    • Set the “Column Type” for tracking number to “Text” so tracking numbers aren’t treated like scientific notation.
To open a removal order detail or shipment detail report in Libreoffice, select Tab as the delimiter, and make sure to set the tracking number column as text
